Acer Aspire 4520 AMD Vs Acer Aspire 4710 Intel - 3DMark 2001

Do you think every laptop with AMD processor is better in 3D graphics than the Intel ones? maybe yes... maybe no... :)

I try to compare two laptop using 3Dmark2001 for 3D Benchmark:

Intel® Core™ Duo mobile processor T2450 (2MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz, 533MHz FSB)

I set up the NVIDIA 7000M with 256MB Graphics Memory and Intel GMA 950 with 224MB

The test was not running on default resolution (1024x768) but running on 1280x800 (widescreen)

Maybe if I have more RAM and setting up the NVIDIA 7000M with max memory (896 MB) Aspire 4520 will be the winner...

  6. Can you tell me how to increase the video memmory above 256.... in bios it shows only three options 64, 128 and 256.
    I have total 2gb ram installed.

  7. try set 256MB in BIOS, then

    Start > Run > dxdiag

    click "Display" tab, read Approx. Total Memory...


    btw, When I set 64 in BIOS, then Approx. Total Memory is 256MB (with 1GB RAM)
    maybe if you set 256MB in BIOS, Approx. Total Memory will increase...


    I haven't try it yet.. (on 2GB RAM) :(

  9. I think the 4520 (AMD) lost out to the 4710 because of the slower clockspeed with the Turion. (2.0GHZ vs 1.8GHZ)

    I am actually supportive towards AMD, and so far in Malaysia, HP and TwinHead offers AMD chips only. DELL once had it, but stopped producing them.

  11. tolong di coba pake yang 2003 atau 2005. intel gma 950 memang optimal untuk game lama, shader model lawas jg directx 9 awal. geforce 7 series optimal untuk shader 3, direct 9 c dan game+software baru tentunya. untk informasi geforce 7300gt milik saya kalah score di 2001 dng 9800XT, begitu tes 2003+2005 score jauh diatas meninggalkan 9800 XT. kecuali kita menggunakan untuk software grafis lama lupakan directx 9c atau shader mode 3.

  14. most Acer laptop use Nanya as the memory.

    Btw, Dual channel memory is better than single memory

  17. I have this type of laptop. Now, the laptop battery last only half a hour so I got a battery from acer aspire 4310 series battery . I hope it can help you.

  19. can anyone teach me how to make my laptop detect the nvidia graphic card? i realise that i lost the cd after i reformat my laptop and now my laptop is not detecting the graphic card...is there any way to make my laptop detect the card?

You need to mention and determine if your 4710 or similar Core Duo notebook has MXM II card added, or if you're trying to benchmark it with Intel's GMA950 graphics, which don't support SM3.0 or even 2.0?! Not sure, but it's not up to the 3D gaming task, an MXM upgrade is what I'm after. Also want to replace your Core Duo for Core2Duo on that chipset, a T7400 or T7600 is top CPU!
