I also installed XP , but the proble I am having is that the ethernet controller driver is not installed, so , my network card is not either sending or receiving packets

for anynomous... When I press WiFi button to enabled the WiFi, it will permanently enabled until I press the button again (Aspire 4520). But you may use acer empowering technology (eNet Management), I think, you can control manual or automatic from it.

If you using windows vista, you can control it on the power management.

This morning I reinstall my windows XP (switch back to SP2) and install Acer Empowering Technology From Aspire 5620 (desinged for win XP) to my Aspire 4710, and its work fine :) except eNet Management its doesn't work.

that is not DOS. that is Linpus Linux. All you need is just install Windows to your Acer 4520. But before you insert Windows Installation CD you must goto BIOS (press F2 when computer start) then change first boot setting to DVD-RW (default is HDD), so when your laptop start, it will boot your Win XPInstallation CD not the Linpus Linux. During Installation processes you can change/create/delete partition. But dont forget to change SATA mode to IDE. or you may choose use AHCI... read (AHCI or IDE) and (Make Windows XP Installation CD detect AHCI)

if there is a pop up window report that no device when install bluetooth, just select "cancel" and installer will continue and it should be ok..

Saya baru beli Acer TM 6292 tp ga sama OS. Jd sama yg jual dipasangin XP "biasa". Berhubung masih mahasiswa, saya beli XP Student Version dan saya instal ulang OS-nya. Tp sekarang malah jd bermasalah. Kalo di-shut down, ga mau mati sampai akhirnya dipaksa mati dengan cara tekan tombol powernya beberapa lama. Ada yang bilang karena urutan instalasi drivernya salah.

- open device manager, check whether bluetooth device exist or not

- do you have enable the bluetooth device yet? (you can use acer empowering technology or Acer button)

- when installing driver please make sure that bluetooth device is enabled.

- install Launch Manager to make your bluetooth button working (so you can enable or disable it using Acer button)

Same problem with Azrie, saya rasa Aspire 4520 saya tidak ada devicenya, di cek di Acer empowering jg tidak ada optionnya.

saya punya laptop Acer aspire 4520 trus saya sudah install Windows XP x64 Edition. beberapa driver terbaca tapi ada yang nggak kedetek seperti sound,pembacaan prosesor, LAN,VGA,dan chipsetnya. ada yang tahu alamat driver untuk Win XP x64 nggak. saya coba install Win XP x64 karena menurut tmn saya laptopnya jalan lebih cepat karena manurutnya prosesor 64 bit lebih optimal kalau diinstall os yg 64 bit juga.

Hi I need some help. I installed xp on my acer 4520,and everything worked fine, and now when I formatted it and try to reinstall, the computer refuses to boot up(even with bootable xp cd), and all it says is this message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
Windows root system32\hal.dll.
Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

Please help. And by the way I still have Vista in one of my partition. How to activate it?

I found this link ... but I advice to format and reinstall windows XP.. don't forget to change boot priority in BIOS.. so it will boot from the CD, not hard drive, and you may try another Windows XP installation CD...

to activate Vista, just boot from vista DVD then perform Vista repair :

1. Boot from Vista DVD
2. A new screen will now appear with a progress bar. The legend say's 'Windows is loading files'
3. After a few minutes the Microsoft copyright window will appear and another small progress bar will be visible
4. You will next see a Blue curtained screen
5. After a short while the Language option screen will appear
6. Select your language and keyboard language and the Click the Next button
7. At the bottom left of the next screen - the Install screen, Click on the Repair Your Computer option
8. The System recovery options will now search for your Windows Vista installation
9. Once the Vista installation has been located, Highlight it and then Click the Next button
10. You are now presented with recovery options, select
Startup repair - This automatically fixes problems that are preventing Windows from starting.

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone would be familiar with CAKEWALK MUSIC CREATOR. I've installed it in my ACER 4520. The MIDI features are functioning properly except for the AUDIO. I'm NOT able to record audio using Cakewalk. I'm still using windows VISTA and after reading all the comments here I'm a bit apprehensive to downgrade to XP (by the way, Cakewalk functions well with XP). Is there a way to make MUSIC creator function under VISTA without downgrading to XP? Thanks

Hi handzar, when you install the driver if there is report says that you must turn on bluetooth device, just ignore it (click ignore or something like that) ... go ahead with driver installation.

"No Device" when you press bloetooth button because you are not completely install the bluetooth driver.

Hi. I have installed XP Pro on my Aspire 4520 and all the drivers seems to be working fine exept the Video driver. I have downloaded all the versions I could find of it, but no luck. When I try to install it nothing happens. A lot of the files comes up with a yellow question mark? Must admit tha my knowledge here is limited. Could anyone give me some help?

Mas Cahya, saya sudah mencoba yang anda sarankan, saat instalasi driver bluetooth versi 5.1.0.3300 yang saya download dari link yang ada di blog dan seperti mas Cahya bilang disaat ada notifikasi untuk menghidupkan bluetooth saya langsung melanjutkan instalasi tanpa menghidupkan bluetooth, instalasi berjalan normal sampai finish, cek device manager sudah ada bluetooth Devices dgn subfilesnya hanya bluetooth bus enumerator saja tidak seperti yang ditampilkan oleh mas Cahya pada gambar diatas yang menampilkan 2 subfile dibawah bluetooth devices yaitu bluetooth bus enumerator dan broadcom 2045 bluetooth 2.0 USB Devices.
saya sudah install bluetooth driver normal dan sesuai saran dan tombol bluetooth tetap dengan respon yang sama saat di tekan yaitu "no device"

Masalah sudah diketahui mas Cahya, ternyata untuk Acer Aspire 4520 di Indonesia ada 2 varian, perbedaan antara 2 varian ini adalah kapasitas harddisk, garansi dan bluetooth. utk kapasitas HD 80GB bergaransi Acer indonesia dan memiliki bluetooth dan harga lebih mahal, sedangkan kapasitas HD 120GB bergaransi Toko tempat pembelian dan tidak memiliki bluetooth dan harga lebih murah. saran untuk para calon pembeli Acer ini,di sarankan teliti sebelum membeli, karena yang saya alami adalah sang penjual sama sekali tidak menjelaskan kalau varian yang saya beli tidak memiliki bluetooth, padahal dari perbedaan harga saja sudah membuat saya bertanya apa yang membuat perbedaan antara 2 varian ini, dan dengan tidak dijelaskannya tentang bluetooth ini membuat saya merasa kecewa, mudah-mudahan saran saya ini berguna. Mas, di ACER seri ini koq ga ada pilihan playback sound dari mikropone dan line in ya? Akibatnya kita ga bisa dengerin suara kalo mw pake TV tuner dan juga gitar listrik untuk dengerin langsung dari built in speaker. Mohon bantuannya ya Mas. Terima kasih.

please double click on speaker icon (right-bottom corner of screen), then
Options > Properties > on Mixer Device choose Realtek HD Audio Input > mark Line Volume > click OK choose Line Volume by add mark on Select > then adjust the volume.

Acer 4520 cukup stabil apalagi klo processornya clocknya 2Gigaan. Tapi kekurangannya adalah pada konsumsi watt(Daya) yang besar dan panas processor yang agak lebih dibanding merk lain(intel). tapi klo pada power, processor AMD ini lebih unggul. ya normal sih, daya yang dibutuhkan juga lebih banyak.

Hello guys, my thx to mr ronald for this great page. Now, to those who are going thru a lots of headache trying to setup the realtek audio drivers on the Acer 4520, let me tell you “been there, done that” and i wans’t easy, what a bad experience since i been in computers many year and fixing them many, many times, but this one was really challenging. Ok now to solve this issue, first thing:

1- Go control panel> System> Hardware> Device Manager…..and look down to “System Devices” Look for the Microsoft UAA Bus driver device, if is not there after you install the realtek audio drivers, thats the whole issue there.

2- Your next step will be be, uninstall the realtek audio drivers> re start system> google this “Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio” download this driver (this is the drivers for the “PCI device that you see that needs a driver) once you install that and your system reconize you can proceed and install the realtek drivers.

What basically is hapening that the Windows SP2 or SP3 is missing to install this driver to activate the high definition Bus port on the system, without this the sound card cant be installed.

Ronald it will be a nice idea if you can put this uaa drivers to download in your page :)

Hi..I'm Dezter Murphy from m'sia..This Acer Aspire 4520 is my 2nd laptop, my old laptop was travelmate 3212 that i bought 3yrs ago..This time i buy a new one b'cz technology is goin fast forward, and itz getting cheaper..so i dun want to be left behind..Ever since i hv this Aspire 4520, i encounter many stupid and unnecessary problems regarding about the OS, no matter Vista or XP..
I knw in m'sia there's no bluetooth device built in and cannot be find anywhere else to buy the internal bluetooth device 4 this laptop model, the only way is by external bluetooth(Priced around RM30)..Nw, the question dat i'm about to ask, i hope there'll be any1 try to post me the the way and guide me on hw to manage my aspire 4520, just any1, pliz..I'm od so frust with this laptop..

1. When installing window XP, do i just insert the WinXP disc into the dvd rom and install(or reformate) like usual? Or i hv to to use nlite program to create a new WinXP disc with SATA file addon like wat i hv done b4 to install WinXP to my this new laptop Aspire 4520.. B'cz when i just install it normally from the origin WinXP without using nlite program to addon SATA file..During the installation(or reformate)process, setup can't read certain file during copying windows file process..Any advice? Any guide? Btw, i'm using pirated WinXP Professional SP2 disc..I hope that's not the factor that the setup process is not functioning properly..The disc is still new..And most of all, I od switch Mode to IDE, not AHCI from bios via F2..

2. When using window Vista, no matter Home Premium edition or Ultimate edition, what is SM Bus controller? When i upgrade the driver from device manager option, later on i experience blue-screen throughout the way when i'm using WinVista...What should i do? Or should i just use WinXP instead? I love WinVista very much..I'm od fedup with WinXP, I od used WinXP since form4(year 2003)..WinVista got so much entertainment option, like Window Media Centre, the sidebar, and surprisingly louder sound than WinXP..What should i do? Also, i only hv pirated WinVista dvd disc..No money to buy the original one..lol..

3. No bluetooth device, i'm ok with that, but what is CIR? I knw this CIR stuff is the infrared port 4 one of the optional way to transfer data(although slower than bluetooth)..Is there ANY infrared device built in inside my laptop? I saw the port, i hv installed the driver, but yet when i tried to transfer data through my phone Sony Ericsson W810i (or detect@test the infrared port), no detection was indicate on the laptop, like infrared does not exist in my laptop..What should i do? Reinstall the driver again and again makes no difference..I still don't get it and my mind started to say "this doesn't makes any sense"...Does others suffer the same problem as i do? Pliz, any1 giv me a solution..My old laptop(Travelmate 3212)has an infrared port..So i knw hw it works and hw to install the driver..But why this new laptop cannot detect?..Very funny..

3. I already upgrade my laptop to the max..Putting RAM of 3GB(if i put 4GB, the system only detect 3GB, waste 1GB. So itz a waste if i put 4GB - 2Gb each slot)..At bios i already set the graphic memory to dedicated 256MB, on screen check through dxdiag, it shows 512MB(on vista, 749MB)..why the laptop is still not as fast as i expected? Can Aspire 4520 support RAM of type 800Mhz? I only fix the 667Mhz type RAM..What should i do?

4. When playing any pc games, why on game Crysis, even after adjust the game setting all to LOW, why it still lagging? Why when i install Dawn of War, the "Spooge Driver" problem still exist although i od install the latest Direct X of 9.0c? Does this hv something to do with the laptop hardware? Is there any possibilities to upgrade laptop AMD processor,nvidia graphic card hardware to newer and better version? Also, when i'm playing Dota Frozen Throne, why does it always popup the bluescreen? Is Dota graphic gameplay too high to be supported on this laptop? I don't think so.. What are the solution to all these problem?..

5. I'm using broadband of celcom..The package of RM68 per month..But my house doesn't hv 3G line, so it goes on speed of 56kbps(53kbps actually)..Itz so slow, similar to GPRS speed..My house cannot fix streamyx b'cz don't hv fix line phone(rural area mah, people around are too poor to pay phone bills)..What should i do? Does the parabola provides internet connection services? Even when i want to go to Yahoo, it tooks more than 5 minutes to load the full page..This sucks man..So fuck up..Any idea to get a better fast internate line at hum?

6. About the Empowering Acer stuff, what is that actually? Some1 pliz explain it to me..

7. What is the lifespan of a laptop burner? Around 200 dvd disc?

you may install Crystal Eye application, but do not install Acer Crystal Eye driver...

1. Yes, you can install Windows XP just like usual because if you switch the SATA mode to IDE, windows XP will detect the HDD easily :) and the problem that setup can't read certain file during copying windows file process, you may try another Windows XP installation CD.

2. SM Bus Controller... It monitors your system board's temperature and voltage. please install/update chipset driver (Download for Vista) or (Download for Vista SP1)

3. Try update your bios... btw in my aspire 4710 with older bios, it support just 2GB ram, but after update my BIOS my aspire support 4GB ram. I hope BIOS update for aspire 4520 will fix your problem too. If you want to download latest version of Aspire 4520 BIOS (download here - v3630 - for windows Vista). do at your own risk ;)

4. try Xtreme-G Mobile nVidia Drivers, this is modified version of nvidia driver (Download here) and turn off nvidia power management (or something like that) in nvidia control panel, so your GPU will always at full performance.

5. contact your local Internet Service Provider :)

Hi steve, are you use windows XP? please goto Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > click "Hardware" tab > Device Manager. Then right click on "Crystal Eye" then select uninstall. Windows XP will detect it as USB Video Device, or if win xp still detect it as Crystal Eye, select "Roll back Driver" instead "Uninstall".

I just reformatted the aspire 5200 laptop for windows xp, and the drivers you provided worked, except I'm having trouble installing the VGA driver. I've tried downloading it from several places and it always seems to get partway into installing and then:

"Setup cannot copy the file nv4_mini_sy_.

Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert 'NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Driver Library Installation Disk 1' in the drive you specify"

I figured it might have been a bad download or something first but after trying three or four times I'm not sure what's really going on.

kalau driver untuk usb itu sudah include dalam windows XP atau Windows Vista jadi tdk diperlukan driver terpisah.

dalam masalah ini bisa saja usb kelebihan beban trus mati, tapi silahkan dicoba untuk update BIOS dulu... (Download BIOS disini)

Dua minggu yang lalu saya membeli Acer Aspire 4520 yang prosesornya TL 60 dan RAM 1 GB. Instal windows XP sudah lancar berkat blog ini ^_^ . Semua driver bisa diinstal dengan baik, karena waktu beli sudah dikasih DVD driver yang lengkap buat XP dan Vista. Tetapi masalahnya waktu saya coba buat main game Rise Of nation dengan resolusi yang disetting ke high semua, kok gamenya jadi berat dan gambarnya jadi patah-patah ya? padahal VGAnya sudah saya setting ke 128MB. Apakah VGA nya memang tidak bisa untuk menjalankan game yang agak berat?

Hi emrezz, please make sure your "Power Profile" set to "Home/Office Desk" or of you already install Acer Empowering technology please set your processor to its maximum speed, download Mobile meter here(just 41 kb) for monitor your processor speed.

don't forget to turn off "Power Management" from nvidia control panel.

if its possible, set your GPU memory to 256Mb from BIOS.

Hi Costin, WIndows XP SP1 is not recommended for Aspire 4720z... You must upgrade to Windows XP SP2... follow this guide to install windows XP in Aspire 4720

wireless modem?? did you mean wireless lan?? try to install broadcom wifi driver if doesn't work, uninstall it, then install Atheros wifi driver

What is your current version of Windows? Vista? XP SP1? SP2 or SP3?

sometimes in Win XP SP1 and SP3 sound driver will crash with bluetooth driver.

by the way try to update your sound driver to latest version (Download version R1.98)

I have updated the RealTek auio drivers, but the system speakers still give no sound. Headphones still work however. If the bluetooth might be conflicting witht he speakers, how could I disable them?

Hi Anonymous.... in Aspire 4520... if you use Windows XP SP1 or XP SP3... bluetooth driver will conflict with realtek (Sound)... please use Windows XP SP2.... :)

or you may try to uninstall Bluetooth driver or use "System Restore" to restore your system to point "before install bluetooth driver.." then do not install bluetooth driver.. and you will unable to use bluetooth of course :(

or try to update your BIOS (Download here)...

I thank you for your continued help Cahya. I did the following :

Disabled : Bluetooth audio device in deviced manager.

Uninstalled bluetooth via add/remove programs.

Used system restore to go to the earliest date I had (Before SP3 but im not sure if it was before bluetooth installation)

Flashed/updated the bios.

And unfortunately I still have no audio, unless I use external speakers/headphones. I am however, now back on SP 2...does that help?

just try to reinstall your laptop, use Windows XP SP2 as the OS :) (fresh install)

Hello Cahya. I clean installed windows xp pro (sp2)twice (One with a normal, the other with a quick format). Same issues. The audio out jack works fine, just nithing from the speakers. At this point, do I have to open it? Or was there a certain order to installing this? I think i did he chipset, modem , the realtek audio.

Yes, the highest resolution for Aspire 4520 is 1280x800, it depends on LCD screen resolution...

try to set windows XP power management to "Home/Office Desk" (left click on battery icon - right down corner of screen), disable power management in Nvidia control panel, then go to BIOS then change the VGA memory to 256Mb..

By the way, Why not play PES 6 ??? I have Ati Radeon X1550 in my desktop computer, I can play PES 2008 with highest graphic setting, but i don't like it. Now I'm still play PES 6 (with a lot of update and mod of course) :)

please use RAM like Kingston, Nanya, or Corsair.

but if you just use 32bit OS, you may use 4GB RAM but Windows 32bit will just detect it as 3GB RAM.

if you want to use 4GB RAM, please install Windows 64bit edition.

i need for Aspire 4520 with XP sp2

PLEASE HELP ME!

There is no eAudio for Windows XP.. Acer eAudio is just for Vista.

try this :
1. Uninstall bluetooth driver and application.

2. then download this (Realtek R2.04 Download)

masalah saya sekarang ialah driver LAN saya tidak boleh berfungsi. kalau saya nk online, saya kena guna broadband ataupn WIFI. mintk tolong hantar driver LAN ni kat emel saya. mohdazwanhamzah@yahoo.com. terima kaseh, kerana jasa baik anda..

Saya punya aspire 4520 bekas dari ayah saya, tapi CD bawaan tidak ada sama sekali. Dulu datang dari penjual sudah dipasangi Win XP Prof "biasa" + applikasi punya acer (empowering technology).
saya mau install ulang tuh Win XP, Driver sudah lengkap, tapi applikasi belum lengkap, adakah yang punya link untuk aplikasi2 punya acer untuk 4520?

Bro!! I'm having a problem in my 5.1 speaker.. only 1 jack is working the headphone.. the other jacks didn't work.. could you please help me manage it... I tried a lot of possible solution but it doesn't work at all.. I hope you can help me bro.. My laptop is Acer Aspire 4520 Windows XP sp2 OS.. thanks for the driver here..

for Dolby 5.1 you need a speaker with digital input S/PDIF and to activate it all you need is turn on Dolby DIgital Live (from realtek control panel) and connect the speaker to red line-out jack.

it is different with other realtek sound card.. for example in my PC, when I set the speaker configuration to 5.1, line-in jack and microphone jack will turn to subwoofer and rear speaker line-out jack... but not in acer laptop.. line-in jack and microphone jack will still remain the same.

so I have to buy S/PDIF converter for my speaker, do you think there is?? and also where should I put in the the S/PDIF jack? I think my Acer Laptop 4520 doesn't have socket for S/PDIF..
