The tutorial for creating the new WINXP CD was great! The driver suggested in the screenshots did not work for my computer the first time, so I made another CD with all of the Mobile drivers and it worked perfectly! Maybe you could update the screenshot? Just a minor suggestion. :)

Thanks Angela
blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com
as angela said.... you can select all of the Mobile drivers or all drivers (I have tested it), press and hold Shift then use your mouse to select all drivers.

9. nLite window will look like this... just click "Next"

11. When process finished, click "Next"

12. If your CD-RW/DVD-RW is empty, insert blank CD, do not use DVD and click refresh button.

13. After you click refresh button, select "Direct Burn", select the lowest burn speed, and click "Burn". Dont forget to check "Verifiy" (optional)

This info will help. I've been trying to figure out a better faster way to computers and laptops. The fastest method would be to just exchange hard drives with fat 32 format. Problems are the drivers will vary from one PC to another, and with XP the system asks for a validation within 3 days. Validation I have covered, now I need an assortment of drivers on the new hard drive I exchange. This method should take less than a half an hour. I take their old hard drive and reformat with Norton Ghost copy of windows XP and it's ready to swap again. Check out may repair website under VIRUS. http://adamcpennington.googlepages.com/home

When you first turn up your computer you want to enter what is called the BIOS. I usually hit all the 'f' keys (f1 through f12) delete and escape just because I know it I will eventually hit the right one. On the BIOS change the boot setting to boot from disk and then save and restart.

this is a respond for anynomous: 4720 aspire and 4720 travelmate are built for vista and both of them are intergrated with high definition audio, before installing audio and modem driver, first must install Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architechture) for support HD Audio. Click here to download. Acer don't include this to their driver archive, i've downloaded from HP site. After install UAA, reboot notebook, then go to device manager, under system device you will see pci bus with this mark (!), right click update driver, follow the wizard that show to UAA driver, just click yes. then install you audio and modem driver. This should be ok. Same goes when installing driver to compaq c700 series.

  • At April 03, 2008 6:49 PM, Blogger Cahya said…

If you want to use IDE mode, you can use your original Windows XP cd. but if you want to use AHCI, you must insert AHCI driver like this tutorial. do not change SATA mode in BIOS after windows XP installed, because it will make windows XP bluescreen..

Hi otto tukiman, please try once again. but if you feel its to hard to do, you may goto BIOS then change the SATA mode to IDE mode (maybe not available in all acer laptop). so you don't need to use nLite :)

    klo gagal,

in new Acer laptop... there are two modes of SATA : IDE mode and AHCI mode. when you want to use SATA AHCI mode, you need to insert AHCI driver into Windows XP CD, because original Windows XP doesn't support SATA AHCI (XP can't detect the harddisk).

But if you want to use IDE mode, read this (switch AHCI to IDE in BIOS) but maybe that option is not available in all Acer laptop... (depends on BIOS version)

For another drivers like WiFi, Sound, VGA, etc... you should install it later (after windows XP installed on your laptop)

thanks, my last question is...My vista 32-bit os,I'll put xp sp2 and I think it is also 32-bit, but I really don't have idea, so what should I do to put 64-bit, cause you know Windows 32 Bit is able to work with 2GB only, and 3GB with some changes to the system settings. Everything above 3GB is already in use by the BIOS and system resources. I need a 64 Bit operating system, together with full bios support for this system to use up to 4GB of RAM. Do you have any idea what should I look for

After burning, you can install Windwos XP on your laptop....

press F6 key (and external USB Floppy Drive) is no more needed, because ahci driver is already included in your Windows XP CD...

    Hi,

    Thanks for the write-up.

I followed your step-by-step guide and succedded in slipstreaming the SATA drivers and now I can avoid the F6 key during WinXP setup.

I went one step ahead and integrated the slipstreamed WinXP into a USB Flash Drive. This USB Flash Drive WinXP installation only works when I set the Hard Disk to IDE mode, fails if it's set to SATA mode in BIOS.

Any idea what went wrong? I heard that it could be due to this file WINNT.SFI. Thank you.

Just follow the suggestion given by Angela. Better to select all the drivers for mobile than to spend 4-6 CD's. :) Like what I did.. hahaha

At least the steps did work. :)

For Aspire Aspire 5530, you must use this AHCI driver or this...
you can't use from Intel website because Aspire 5530 is based on AMD and use ATI chipset...

    I think dedi is right...
This error "ahcix64.sys file is either corrupt or missing, may occur due to a mix drivers between 32bit and 64bit of SATA drivers.

if you want to install XP 32-bit choose only sata x86 driver, and if you want to to install XP 64-bit you need to choose sata x64..

copy Windows XP to your HardDisk, then start from the beginning. this time just select x86 driver (xp 32bit)..

If you want to use IDE mode, you can use your original Windows XP cd. but if you want to use AHCI, you must insert AHCI driver like this tutorial.
I have Travelmate 7530 so can some one tell me what is the difference if I use IDE or AHCI, is AHCI faster.
I installed winxp on IDE (changed it in bios) so I think that if I want to use AHCI will have to install windows all over again?
is there a way to insert the driver then go to bios and chene it to AHCI so that it will work without reinstalling xp?

Well I tried it but when windows start to load when set to AHCI, the pc boots and boots then I get the screen to load windows in safe mode, tried it but it would not load in safe mode. I went back and set it back to IDE.
Is there any difference if I run xp sata set as AHCI or IDE?
If there is no diference then I will leave it as IDE.

I am thinking of making a dual boot with vista ultima black edition 64 but I am a bit scared because on acer drivers there are drivers for vista 32 so if I install vista 64 and no drivers available then I am scre...., any advice?

  • At November 21, 2008 10:36 PM, Anonymous wong said…

    @SIMON

    It can't work with AMD.

    I have 2 OS,vista & xp sp3. but vista installed first.

If you wan't to make dual boot, try to find the driver first. if not, your hardware may not working.

If you have the driver and your travelmate OS is xp,you can install vista in another partition. vista will read your xp.
And you just have dual boot.

Simon on Travelmate 7530.Thank you wong, did not understand you correctilly do you mean that it can't work with AMD so I have to integrat the drivers into xp and reinstall if I want it to work with AHCI, or even this will not work and I am stuck with IDE. Concerning dual boot, then I gess installing vista 32 would be better since the drivers are available.
Finally your recomenation, do you think it is better to format everything and install xp working on AHCI? or leave it as is and use IDE?

  • At November 22, 2008 12:40 AM, Anonymous wong said…

    @Simon

For now, you don't need to format everything, you can use xp in IDE mode.
If you want to install vista, vista can run in AHCI or IDE mode.
You just need a new partition.

When you get the AHCI driver for AMD based. You just need to install it in xp, after that you can change your BIOS into AHCI mode. Vista has no problem with it.

you're welcome Simon.... sorry for my bad english..

Thank you wong. I bought this pc because I wanted to install vista 64 but since at acer site there are drivers only for vista 32 then what is the use of dual core if I can not install 64 bit aplications or on otherhand why didn't acer make 64 drivers for this pc since it is a new model?

The problem is when xp is going to boot for the first time it always ask safe mode or start normally and boots all the time, having a blue screen and never continue to boot to xp. If i go to the bios and press F2 on the MAIN there is a quiet boot, network boot, f12 boot, d2d recovery but there is no SATA or AHCI Boot,. MY notebook MOdel is ACer Aspire 4710. Core 2 Duo,Intel Chipset. 32 Bit. The Hard disk is WDC 160gig. Pls. Help really needed it,

  • At January 31, 2009 1:11 PM, Blogger Cahya said…

It means we make a new Windows XP CD using a blank CD....
You must copy all files and folders in Windows XP original CD to your Harddisk.... (on tutorial above I copied it to "WINXP" folder)

"WINXP" folder may be different with yours and you may rename it to whatever you want :)

Thanks,mr.cahya.
    Thanks In Advance.

Hi Sugeng, there is no connection between "add more RAM" and "slipstreaming driver via nLite"
so all step above will exactly the same...
on step 8, if you unsure what the correct driver to slipstream into XP CD, select all drivers :)

    good luck sugeng
