Hi Angelf, download AHCI driver for aspire 4920 (chipset 965)(Download here), extract it somewhere... then open Device Manager, navigate to IDE/ATAPI controllers, find SATA controller,right click, select Update Driver..., then locate iaStor.sys, use that driver. Restart your computer.

ReplyDeletewell, i got hit by a trojan virus, and decided to reformat. got my hands on a usb floppy, and tried the f6 install. so did the setup and everything in ahci mode, but it says it couldnt recognise the hdd.
then i tried once more with the driver inserted into the xp install(followed the steps in the nlite guide above), and it still shows the same error.
then i followed the steps as mentioned in the previous post, and i got this msg:
the wizard could not find a better match than what you have installed.
i still cant boot up in ahci mode tho.

is there a big improvement in running in ahci mode compared to ide mode?
forgot to mention that after the first 2 failures, i decided o install in ide mode again.

windows XP will automatically detect the camera as USB Video Device (without installing Crystal Eye driver)... just open device manager... if it doesn't exist the connector between camera and motherboard maybe broken... go to your local acer service center.

Hi Fiona, try open Device Manager, click Start, click Run, then type this devmgmt.msc , then click OK, please make sure that "Crystal Eye" or "USB Video Device" is exist in Device manager, if it doesn't exist, contact your local Acer Service Center.

Cannot connect to internet? so there are three problem possibilities :
- your friend doesn't install Wireless LAN driver yet
-your friend doesn't install LAN driver yet
-your friend doesn't install Modem driver yet
so if your friens want to connect to internet via Wireless LAN (WiFi) download and install this (WLAN driver)
if your friens want to connect to internet via LAN (Local Area Connection) then you should install this driver (LAN Driver)
if your friens want to connect to internet via modem, install this (modem agere) or this (modem conexant)
actually you must install all drivers above... :)

for your type 4920 with ati vga. You just need install ati driver. Intel doesn't need to be install.

ReplyDeleteMy laptop Acer Aspire 4920 (i think mine is 4920, but did doubt whether it is 4920G because when i checked, same model of Acer actually has different specs like graphic card) could not enter Windows (can only do so via safe mode). The worse thing is I DO NOT HAVE FACTORY DEFAULT RECOVERY DISCS because the burning process stopped and failed twice; the worst thing is that I have TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM PROTECTION (both C & D drives recovery points). So, I COULD NOT RESTORE MY SYSTEM.
After that, I tried to boot from recovery discs of Acer TravelMate 6291. I was prompted to insert Disc 1 then Disc 2, the process was completed 100%. But when I was prompted to insert Disc 1 again for copying process, the copying stopped after a few seconds. I waited for about half an hour and it still did not respond, so, I restarted my laptop.
Unexpectedly, upon restart, I could now enter Windows normally (after undergoing the process as if I am installing a new Windows- selecting my region, language, set time).
There are a couple of things I need reassurance. Even though I can now enter Windows (with the sound present and fine display, all devices are shown to be working properly under device manager), I found that my laptop model (which used to be Acer Aspire 4920) has now become Acer TravelMate 6291 under the system properties. For the Windows Vista Home Premium, I changed and activated my original product key. So, I assume I am using my original Windows now?
Here are my questions:
1) DIFFERENT DRIVERS IN DIFFERENT MODELS OF ACER
Will my drivers have problems as I know that Acer TravelMate is using some DIFFERENT HARDWARES and thus DIFFERENT DRIVERS. My Acer Apsire 4920 has ATI Radeon Mobility HD2500 XT while the one in Acer TravelMate is Mobile Intel (R) 945 Express Chipset Family. I understand that the contents in the recovery discs I used were actually copied from the hidden compartment in D drive of ACER TRAVELMATE 6291, which could be significantly different from Acer Aspire 4920. How does this work?
2) LOST ORIGINALITY
As I used recovery discs of ACER TRAVELMATE 6291, are the files and drivers in my Acer Aspire now not the original ones which they should be? Hi, also, after reformatting, I find that my Acer eRecovery is gone.. The rest of the Acer Empowering Technology features are still there, except eRecovery. Can anyone explain this? Thanks.

My laptop Acer Aspire 4920 (i think mine is 4920, but did doubt whether it is 4920G because when i checked, same model of Acer actually has different specs like graphic card) could not enter Windows (can only do so via safe mode). The worse thing is I DO NOT HAVE FACTORY DEFAULT RECOVERY DISCS because the burning process stopped and failed twice; the worst thing is that I have TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM PROTECTION (both C & D drives recovery points). So, I COULD NOT RESTORE MY SYSTEM.
After that, I tried to boot from recovery discs of Acer TravelMate 6291. I was prompted to insert Disc 1 then Disc 2, the process was completed 100%. But when I was prompted to insert Disc 1 again for copying process, the copying stopped after a few seconds. I waited for about half an hour and it still did not respond, so, I restarted my laptop.
Unexpectedly, upon restart, I could now enter Windows normally (after undergoing the process as if I am installing a new Windows- selecting my region, language, set time).
There are a couple of things I need reassurance. Windows Vista already has a lot of hardware drivers inside...
Windows will automatically detect the new hardware and install the correct driver for it... (as long it has same chipset, Intel)
open your device manager, if it has no unknown device.. and the hardware type is correct, it is fine... :)

If you not sure, open device manager, uninstall all hardware drivers, then download and install Aspire 4920 Drivers.

As long it has same chipset type.. (Intel) you can use OS image file from different type...
btw, my friend is computer technician in ECS Elitegroup he have one Harddisk contains Windows XP (this XP installed on Intel chipset mainboard) he can use this Harddisk to test all intel based mainboard... :)

Hi Mr Cahya, I am currently using a 4920g lappy. and recently i reformat to windows XP pro. When i tried to install some of the programs inside, it said " please insert the last disk of the Multi volume set" and as for the graphics card, it said : "setup cannot continue because the length of the specific directory path plus the installation folder name exceeds 88 character". I am having a big headache now..Please help. Thanks alot

ReplyDeleteHi Angelf, download AHCI driver for aspire 4920 (chipset 965)(Download here), extract it somewhere... then open Device Manager, navigate to IDE/ATAPI controllers, find SATA controller,right click, select Update Driver..., then locate iaStor.sys, use that driver. Restart your computer.

ReplyDeleteya jelas tidak support.. karena setelah setting di BIOS diganti ke IDE, maka windows tidak akan bisa detect ahci lagi.
agar XP bisa detect Harddisk dengan konfigurasi sata ahci baca ini (slipstreaming driver with nLite)... atau ini (>Windows Already Installed in IDE Mode, How to Install and Enable AHCI

1. Open device manager
2. Right click on Crystal Eye, select properties...
3. Click Roll Back Driver / Uninstall until Windows XP detect it as USB Video Device.... or... click update driver then manually selecy USB Video Device

it just driver problem...
You driver version is not compatible with Ati Catalyst Control Center version... When you update ATI driver (with driver only), please uninstall ATI CCC (Catalyst Control Center)... or when you update driver, please include ATI CCC from that newer driver

When first time you start your laptop.. eRecovery Management will ask to make a backup... that backup is factory default state..

There is no difference between original and cracked XP...
when you want to install XP follow this guide (Slipstreaming ahci driver using nlite) or simply change sata mode to IDE (in BIOS)
btw, Always use original Windows XP :)

have just replaced HDD in my Acer 4920 (failed after 14 months-these machines run too hot - backup your stuff!) and and have installed Vista Home Prem 64 OEM as there was no recovery disks made.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Cannot find any sound drivers to work. Have tried the Vista 64 bit drivers above but still no luck.
Suggestions? All looks good in device manager.

(in XP 128). when i tried played WCIII:dota in Vista it run very slow compare to XP.. i still figuring out the AGP texture acceleration for Intel GMA 965 X3100, when i found something i'll let u know..

(in XP 128). when i tried played WCIII:dota in Vista it run very slow compare to XP.. i still figuring out the AGP texture acceleration for Intel GMA 965 X3100, when i found something i'll let u know..
NB: my Notebook is Acer Aspire 4920, Pross Core2Duo T5550 1.83Ghz, VGA Intel GMA X3100 express chipset, RAM 512 DDR2.

my laptop is Acer 4710 with Intel GMA 950 ... it uses shared memory too.. but everything is ok...
have you install chipset driver yet?
you should install chipset driver first before install other hardware drivers...
try this, I believe it will work:
1. Uninstall any VGA driver
2. Reboot and cancel out of the hardware detection dialogue
3. Install Chipset Driver (Download here)
4. Reboot
5. Install VGA Driver (Download here)
6. Reboot

hi, my name is sheela from the philippines.i'm having a problem on my acer aspire 4920 intel core duo processor T5550.my husband and i bought this unit in kuwait. this unit is lisence and the big problem is i don't have cd inataller for my unit. somebody installed windows xp on my vista premium without backing up my original file that was installed in kuwait. i don't know what he did so that i can use my unit vista like...and now my webcam doesn't work....please,please,please help me track and install my lisence original file automatically from kuwait...we bought this unit in alghanim in kuwait city across mubarakiya fish,fruits and vegetables market.

Hi dzipperr, eRecovery eRecovery can't be installed if your "Acer Hidden Partition" in your laptop doesn't exist.. and sadly only Acer can build a hidden partition...
try using third party softwares like Norton Ghost or Acronis Home Image... :)
I mean Acronis True Image home... ;)

I think it because too many programs installed....
btw, check your startup (Run > msconfig)
try to decrease startup items...

your microphone is ok because they can hear your voice..
check your speakers...
if you can hear any sound when you watch a movie...
your spekers is ok....
check your pc-to-pc software settings...
and please check the microphone on their computer...

hi i am using acer aspire 4920. i was having a problem recently which is i cant seem to get online thru wireless.
ReplyDeleteThe wireless lan enable shortcut button seems faulty too(which is located at my left hand side of the keypad). last time when i press it. it will auto disable my wireless while now when i press it ,it only show wireless enable or disable but inside network connection , my wireless network connection stays not connected.
when i try to repair my wireless network connection it say
(windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed :
connecting to wireless network.
please advice me what to do
somehow i manage to get into internet. but now it show (limited or no connectivity.)

Hi Mr Cahya...I have many problems with my Aspire 4920.
ReplyDeleteWhen my 4920 automatic updating antivirus or firefox, always cause windows crash...So I always bring it to the Acer Center and pay for 50.000 rupiah. But since the guarantee is over, I don't want to pay more just for reformat.
I made backup in 2 DVDs, but one dvd is gone. So, When My 4920 crash again, I can't restore it to the factory setting.
And than I tried to format the windows, But I lost all the Acer setting. And:
1. My touched pad is working weird. I didn't touch it, but the cursor is moving itself
2. When I turn on my 4920, I found the LCD is blank with white color, so I have to deadly forced and turn it on again. I am afraid that it wold be wreck my 4920. FYI, I had replace the LCD once because it was broken. I didn't even press the LCD. And, I lost 2.300.000 rupiahs...fiuhh...!!
3. I've been trying to solve it with click Alt+F10, but it didn't work
4. I can't use my bluetooth
And I found your blog. I tried to download the Acer eRecovery for Acer 4920 but it was Failed. I had try 2.0.2021, 2.5.4012, 2.5.4304...All didn't work. It said that "it is not D2D...." (sorry I forgot)
I also tried install Acer Empowering Framework, But it didn't work either...
My windows vista is service pack 2. Whether it is has an effect?
Please help me Mr. Cahya.

I have acer aspire 4920 laptop … after I formatted my machine and created new partitions (C,D,E). When I tried to re install acer eRecovery file I got this message: "Not D2D system cannot find any installable component "
ReplyDeleteWhen I tried to use my factory default DVD which I burned earlier, but faild due to corrupted image file (S1E4X405.066 )
I would be very grateful should any generous person send me this file.
This file is about 50 mb and requires to be uploaded to a website where I can download from.
If you have acer aspire 4920 factoury default DVD or CD you can find this file in the "IMAGE" folder.

3D-accelerator with 128 Mb Video-RAM;

I already have all the requirement but still when i try to start the game, it keep poping an error message :
*Unable to initialize video mode
Could not create direct3D device*
