How to install ITECIR Infrared Receiver in Windows XP 32 and 64 bit
Worked fine for me! Tested in x64 and x86!

1. Download this

AS5920_5920G_CIR_v7.1.64.1010.zip (Mirror)

and

CIR_ITE_IT8512E_v5046_Vistax32x64.zip (Mirror)

2. Uninstall any previous installed driver of ITECIR
3. Extract AS5920_5920G_CIR_v7.1.64.1010.zip and install the driver manually

THEN

4. Extract CIR_ITE_IT8512E_v5046_Vistax32x64.zip and run DPInst or install the driver manually

5. Reboot...

That worked definitely for me ;)
Hope it does work also for you!

Wish I would've found this post before I had to find all this stuff myself.

For those of you with 6920's having trouble with the CIR (ITE8708) driver, try this driver (disregard that it says Vista driver):

http://www.x-drivers.com/component/option,com_remository/itemid,36/func,fileinfo/id,18816/

Run the self-extracting EXE, and navigate to the FSC_1012247\logo'd 5.0.0003.2ITECIR_inf\file {x86,x64} directory. From there running the DPInst (or using the Update Driver method from the Device Manager, if that's your fancy) should yield success.

Thank you!!! blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

THANKS for your time and effort!!!
I know how much it takes to find and test drivers.

Hope it's not much to ask...Would you consider making driver backup off your Acer 6920 with Drivermax ( http://www.drivermax.com/ ) and sharing it with rest off us?

You can back it up in just one zip file so others can download it and use it.

    I'm sorry Highlander...
    I can't do that because I don't have Acer 6920...
my post above is just from my little research and knowledge...

that's why I need someone to install those drivers on Aspire 6920... and report the result here.

I hope someone will help me.

According to http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/as6920g-6.htm, the ACER Aspire 6920 runs on Mobile Intel® PM965 Chipset.
According to http://www.intel.com/products/notebook/chipsets/pm965/pm965-overview.htm this Chipset includes a 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8-M) controller.

So what you should enter to the installation CD is: Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)

I don't know if that works. I'm gooing to buy a 6920G tomorrow (and this is why i got here for the first place - many many thanks to Cahya for this great work - i'm surely going to test it all and report here...)

Hello! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting all of the drivers and information. I have an Acer Aspire 6920-6141 that I bought from Newegg.com recently. It is not a 6920G but uses mostly the same drivers.

The tutorial for creating the new WINXP CD was great! The driver suggested in the screenshots did not work for my computer the first time, so I made another CD with all of the Mobile drivers and it worked perfectly! Maybe you could update the screenshot? Just a minor suggestion. :)

All of the drivers worked for me except for the CIR driver. I tried both the original posted one and the new one that you suggested on 8/7, both manual and using the Setup.exe file. Neither work. Maybe I do not have IR, but it shows up on my Device Manager... Also, I have a PCI Memory Controller device - do you know what that is for?

Other than that, I have a perfectly successful downgrade from Windows Vista Home 64-bit to Windows XP Professional 32-bit. Thank you again!!

Hi! I have downloaded all drivers from here an everything works perfectly. But a problem with CIR driver unfortunately remains. I've tried to upgrade manually as you had written, but nothing changes. I hope that You'll find the solution. By the way, DirectX10 for XP is already availiable!

Hi there.I`m an Aspire 6920 owner and I have some questions:
1.Where can i find a driver for the monitor/display(16 inch full HD),Vista recognizes it as Generic PnP Monitor.
2.I`m missing about 30 GB of HDD space even after I formated my notebook.BTW,in Computer Management:Disk Management there are 2 more partitions of 10 and 3.54 GB that I did not create and I can`t delete them.
3.Why doesn`t Vista let me make more than 2 partitions when I start installing it ?

Where can i find a driver for the monitor/display(16 inch full HD),Vista recognizes it as Generic PnP Monitor.
    Download this driver :
    Nvidia Vista 32bit (Download)
    Nvidia Vista 64bit (Download)

I`m missing about 30 GB of HDD space even after I formated my notebook.BTW,in Computer Management:Disk Management there are 2 more partitions of 10 and 3.54 GB that I did not create and I can`t delete them.
When you bought 320GB hard disk.. windows will shows total capacity about 298GB (298GiB-learn more about GibiByte), this is because computers are binary system.... and about that 10GB.. i think it is a hidden partition contains files for OS Recovery...
3.54 GB...I don’t know exactly, maybe it contains acer "instant on" system..
If you want to remove it, try paragon partition manager (Download trial 30 days)

Why doesn`t Vista let me make more than 2 partitions when I start installing it ?
No... you can make more than two partitions, delete all partition first..

hey cahya and everyone else. awesome guide and all that. though not all of it has been working as i hoped but well i got sound, gfx card and internet drivers so its all working fine. though i get the feeling that something with my sound drivers arent quite right. i get this weird sound, i mean its "okay" but it still doesnt sound very good and when i click that "e" button right next to "Virtal Surround Sound" on the computer nothing happens. before it used to turn blue or w/e. also theres something wrong with turning up/down the volume with the touchpad thingy. i can pause, stop, change track, mute and hold and all that but when i drag the volume thingy up/down nothing happens. got any idea how to fix that? and perhaps get 100% proper drivers for the sound card(unless I already do... it might just be me that is bothered by the sound)

thanks in advance and thanks again for the guide :)

Are all the things works with Xp pro ?

Since Acer design this laptop for Windows Vista.. some features may not available on Windows XP... like Empowering Technology...
4Gb RAM will detected as 3GB.. (for Win XP 32bit)
Direct X 10 only available in Windows Vsita...
    etc

But if you still want to use Windows XP instead of Vista.. you can install Windows XP on it.. :)

I suggest you to use Dual Boot (read dual boot tutorial)

Hi guys, great blog... you're heading the right direction.. I myself am about to install XP as well, though only for a particular program to run on Windows Vista. I think it would be a waste if the fingerprint device were not used. So the 2 major issues are the "e-audio" and "empowering technology"?

So you could get the infrared to work?

    Thanks!

I thought it might be useful to list the features that you will NOT be able to install if you switch from Vista to XP64 on the 6920G.

    Am I right about these?

    What else have I missed?

    -DirectX 10 graphics
(only .9 is available in XP, right?)

    -'Tuba' Cinebass driver
(Sadly, the built in 6920g speakers sound massively inferior without the driver to enrich the bass)

    -Acer eAudio

    -Acer empowering technology

    -Infra Red

    -Fingerprint Scanner

Insert your Vista DVD > boot from it > select Repair > StartUp repair .... now you will only able to boot to Vista... then download EasyBCD (Download) > install it on Vista > you can create Boot menu (add "boot to Windows XP") from EasyBCD :)

Thanks Cahya for the advice, but I tried that already and the laptop (its graphic card) only transmits 1366×768, so on my TV there is just 1366×768 instead of full HD. What should I do? I'd like to set it even when I don't have it connected to an external TV source.

Anyone with Acer 6920g and Win Xp that has managed to set his resolution to 1920×1080, pls tell how to do it. I know the laptop is capable of full HD resolution. And one more thing: I tried to play Bluray in PowerDVD with laptop connected to LCD TV via HDMI and it didn't want to play it. When I play Bluray just on my laptop, PowerDVD plays it. Then I run BD advisor and it says it's not HDCP-compliant. Any idea? I mean everything is HDCP-compliant - laptop, TV, AV receiver.

It just kicked in when I installed the Nvidia drivers Cahya provided. I installed chipset prior to that (I couldn't do it the other way round). Maybe that's the key?

Anybody - any idea about the infrared drivers for XP? Is there anybody who has managed to install them properly on 6920g?

    Sorry for my english.

    Thanks for help.

As you see... not all drivers will work 100% with aspire 6920... such as CIR and many people report that they face a problem with CineBass... I suggest you to use Dual Boot Vista and XP :)

    hmmmm.... I don't know why..
I think you can't install the wrong driver because driver for x86(32bit) and x64 are the same...

are you install chipset or intel vga?
because intel vga driver for x86 and x64 are different... read UPDATE 4

    Hi people!

I bought an Acer Aspire 6920 and have windows vista 32-bits installed (Autocad 64-bits did not work and I had to uninstall the Windows Vista 64).

Like you, I have problems with drivers too. Searching on the internet (and here) I could install most of them, except bluetooth.

    I tried the following drivers:
BTW 5.1.0.4500_Acer (shared in this blog)
BTW 6.0.1.5000_Acer (shared in acer's site at
    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_6920G.html )

    The following messagens appear:
"No devices bluetooth" (when I push the bluetooth right button on
    the keyboard)

    At the Bluetooth settings appear:
"The Bluetooth device was not detected"

    At the "device manager" apear:
"enumerator bus bluetooth" (This device is working properly.)
In "Other devices" appear one unknown device. But I tested all drives that I have with no sucess.

Could be that unknown device the bluetooth?

    Please, anybody help me!

Hi my name is Matic i'm fro slovenia...

I just bought ancer aspire 6920g...

and a lot of these drivers you mentione in content and the post i tried and they work perfectly...

    but i have 2 problems that i can't fix

1.) cinedash works but, when i hit the play/pause button it only pauses the song (for example) but when i hit the button on top (the litlle man) it pauses the song and when i hit it again it plays it on...
i got a feeling that anybody here who said that the cindash driver worked for him he ment that it was working perfectly not like mine so any solutions?

i know its a minor thing but its bugging me...

2.) the remote i got it with the computer wont work... yeah i know there were mentioned more then 3 drivers for "itecir" and yeah every one "works" so you can no longer see the "unknown hardware" notification, but when a try to hit any button it just wont work and the batteries are brand new...
    if anybody can help plz...

    BTW: this blog rocks!

    I prethank you for help

install ePower Management from this post (Empowering Technology for XP)-read update 13-
then make a same Brightness setting for "Maximum Performance" (this profile will automatically applied when you plug-in power supply cable) and other setting such as "Entertainment", "Presentation", etc.. (screenshot)

Hi there, Kudos on the awesome list of drivers. Most of them have worked for me so far, I use Tiny XP 32 bit Rev09. Using this os has helped immensley as a starting point if that is of any use to anyone.
I have a niggling issue though. The blasted cinedash Media console (the touch control for volume etc.) WAS working initially for a while. then i did something, i dont know what it was, but now it refuses to work. I tried the driver you suggested, but all it does for me is let me config the buttons at the other side ( the e button top left, and the mail and internet buttons). i havent found the option of the cinedash console, if i have missed it, please tell me. or has someone else found a config in windows to turn it on?

Thanks for all the hard work everyone has done. ;-)

Vistaman! Use the search-function of your browser... go to your bios and switch AHCI mode to IDE mode... or create a slipstream xp cd with sata drivers.

How to install ITECIR Infrared Receiver in Windows XP 32 and 64 bit
Worked fine for me! Tested in x64 and x86!

    1. Download this

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?recordid=5442&formid=3394&website=AcerPanAm.com&siteid=7117&words=all&keywords=&areaid=2]this

    this

    2. Uninstall any previous installed driver of ITECIR
    3. Extract AS5920_5920G_CIR_v7.1.64.1010.zip and install the driver manually

    THEN

    4. Extract CIR_ITE_IT8512E_v5046_Vistax32x64.zip and run DPInst or install the driver manually

    5. Reboot...

That worked definitely for me ;)

hi there, im looking for a bit of help on my bluetooth, i got a 6920G about 2 weeks ago, ive been using the bluetooth and then yesterday it gave up. Just stopped working, now every time i press the bluetooth button on the keyboard it says bluetooth enabled but then starts to install drivers and eventually fails to install. In the device manager it says the bluetooth peripheral device isnt working properly and has no drivers installed, ive looked for drivers to no avail. Im using Vista home premium SP1 and model number is 6A3G25Bn. Any help would be appreciate, thanks in advance

just install from the device manager.. choose the drivers manually and go to the vista directory of the provided drivers of the acer support site.
    should be no problem..

Thanks but it doesnt work, no idea why it just stopped working but for it to just delete the driver on its own is even more strange. This is what it tells me in device manager:

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

When i actually click reinstall it just says it couldnt find the sofware for my bluetooth peripheral device, im really stumped on this one.

    Hi!

Great job on helping so many people!

I've just bought Acer aspire 6920 and I was thinking about Xp, but then I decided that I'm going to wait for Windows 7 :)

I do actually have one problem. My monitor is marked as generic pnp monitor... I have installed the drivers that you mentioned before, for full 16' HD, but I still get "generic pnp monitor" with 60 hertz max ;/ I was doing a lot of stuff with drivers 4 a graphic card to make gta running, but I missed the moment when this pnp bullshit started ;/ cause It was OK before - 75 or 85 hertz on 1366x768 pixels. Can anyoe help?

    Greetings from Poland :)

    Mike

Hi Cahya. I just posted somewhere else about the 8920g and windows 7 64 bits. Then I found this post. Do you still need the hwinfo32 results? I've got a US AS8920-6671. Let me know and I'll do it.

    Alex
